Iphigenia in Splott

Iphigenia in Splott

Cork Midsummer Festival 2019

‘Conflicted Theatre catches the almost musical shifts in these various scenes… lively, contemporary and punchy’The Echo

Effie is setting her future ablaze with a molotov cocktail of youth, beauty, ketamine and rage. She uses her brutal and delicate cunning to ‘top up’ from the night before and the night before that, ricocheting from eyeball aching hangover to hammered and back again with such devotion, it can only be admired.

By the way, Effie is going to save us all.

Darkly funny, screaming of decaying urban atmospheres, loud and brash and violent and tender – this is the story of a young woman who has no use for hopes or dreams… unless they belong to us.

Directed by Gavin McEntee

Performed by Sonya O’Donoghue

Made possible by the support of the Cork Arts Theatre emerging artists programme, funded by the Arts Council.
